Virtual Power Plant update
The SA state government has released further information on the status and progress of the Virtual Power Plant.
“The South Australian government is embarking on the largest expansion of home battery storage in the world and has reconfirmed its support for the Tesla partnership. The virtual power plant program is being delivered as planned, with home energy systems comprising a solar panel system and Tesla Powerwall battery now successfully installed on 100 SA Housing Trust properties.
What happens next?
Installation of a further 1,000 home energy systems on SA Housing Trust properties will now commence. During this phase we will be testing the energy systems operating together as a virtual power plant. Subject to the success of Phase 2, the full roll-out of the program involving 24,000 public housing properties and 25,000 private properties will begin mid-2019.
In the meantime, we have updated the website with new Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to address more of the common enquiries we have received so far. We will continue to share updates via email and at www.virtualpowerplant.sa.gov.au.”
